Stop fretting and start relaxing…

By Steve Sjogren | March 31, 2006

Ever since I was a small child, fretting has been a way of life for me. I am sure many of you can identify. I have been a burden-bearer. This is an unhealthy way to approach living, and it is counter to a healthy spiritual approach to living.

God’s calls us to relax and to become a person of spontaneity.

I have been living the spontaneous life for the past couple of decades and my, oh my, how different and fulfilling that has been. There is absolutely no comparison to that approach versus the gutting it out way of doing things. I will never go back – in fact, I cannot ever go back. My health will not allow me to do so, not my physical health, my emotional health or my mental health.

Jesus so powerfully and aptly said, “My yoke is easy and my load is light.” When we are walking in his strength and his calling we are doing things by the strength he supplies. And that is a whole different arrangement than using our human efforts to live a spiritual life.

Relax. I once was a rabbit, now I am a turtle. Join me in the turtle brigade! It’s a blast! We get more done with far less effort.

(NOTE: If you haven’t yet read it, pick up a copy of my new book, The Day I Died, for a full explanation of the Turtle vs. Rabbit explanation or visit my website, www.DayIDied.com.)
