Obstacles to Outwardness

By Steve Sjogren | May 22, 2006

I have been mulling over the issues, the blockages, that cause people to “jump off the tracks” so to speak who have begun well living out the vision of the outward focused life.

Everyone likes, even loves the idea of focusing their lives beyond themselves. Who is against being a loving person after all? You would have to be pretty nasty to be against something that wonderful! But as I look over my shoulder and the many I have trained, the crowds who have “begun well”, there are not many who have stuck with it in the long haul. This frustrates me enormously. But hey, this is what lifelong learning is all about, learning our lessons as we walk through the long haul, picking up this observation as well as that and making adjustments to our teaching and impartations to others along the way.

Recently my heart has been filled with pondering the question: “Is there something in our human hearts that needs to be healed, to be inspired, to we can live out a life of kindness for the long haul?”

Last thought today: Why is this life of kindness so awfully important anyway? More tomorrow…
