Serve those around you by listening
By Steve Sjogren | July 18, 2006
Look around you in your job environment. There are people who are literally dying to talk to someone.
Obviously, it is not appropriate to intrude into other’s lives unless you are invited, but count on it, many near you are crying out in their quiet moments – asking for someone to intersect in their lives.
Surprisingly, some of the most desperate ones are the ones who seem the most together. We humans are great at putting on masks.
A couple of things to keep in mind as you make yourself available to serve your way forward:
- Intersect with same sex people. Don’t make the mistake of attempting to “help” others of the opposite sex who will easily confuse your efforts to serve as “invitations.” Men with men, women with women.
- The way forward with this will likely be in the realm of listening.
In summary today, look for the person who has been placed upon your path. This is not a mysterious thing that you will need to discern or use a “8 Ball” to figure out. Actually, it couldn’t be more obvious.
